Interim relief for these areas is being provided by means of mobile exchange units on the Crumlin site; one 1,000 line unit became operational on 12 November 1982, a second unit of 600 line capacity will be brought into service next week, and a further 1,000 line unit will be provided later this year.
A new exchange with an initial capacity of 10,000 subscribers lines is expected to be brought into service at Terenure about October next. It will replace the existing exchange which serves approximately 6,300 subscribers lines.
