asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange to pay a farm modernisation scheme grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny as the grant is owed for some time.
The drainage works in question involve deepening a channel and the removal and replacement of an accommodation bridge on a neighbouring farm. The lowering of the invert level of a county council bridge may also be necessary. Investigation of the scheme cannot proceed until the applicant has secured the necessary permissions.

It is a condition for the payment of grants to development farmers under the farm modernisation scheme that an extract of farm accounts is submitted for each year of the plan. As the applicant in this case is a development farmer the grant cannot be paid until the necessary extract is furnished.

The person named was paid first instalment of the EEC scheme of premiums for good quality ewes 1982-83 on 16 November 1982. He has also applied for the 1982 scheme of headage payments on sheep in disadvantaged areas and an inspection of his grazing land will be made shortly to determine if he is eligible.
