Vol. 339 No. 10

Written Answers. - Western Drainage Scheme.

268.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason a western drainage grant was not paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

There is no record of an application for grant-aid under the western drainage scheme from the person mentioned.

269.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a decision on an application under the western drainage scheme will be made for a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

This application under the western drainage scheme was received on 2 February 1982. Applications under the scheme are being processed strictly in order of receipt. Present indications are that sufficient applications have been received up to 30 September 1981 to absorb the 150,000 hectares approved by the EEC which meets 50 per cent of the cost of the scheme. It was decided early last year to defer processing of applications received after that date to enable the situation to be reviewed.
