Vol. 340 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Wexford AnCO Grant.

247.

asked the Minister for Labour when an AnCO grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The person concerned, who is an apprentice, attended a first year off-the-job painting/decorating course at the AnCO Training Centre in Waterford from 14 September 1981 to 27 August 1982.

For the period of training up to 4 January 1982 the apprentice concerned resided in accommodation in Waterford in respect of which he received an accommodation allowance of £20 per week from AnCO. He paid £7 per week towards the accommodation from his own pocket, which is the amount all single AnCO trainees are required to pay towards accommodation expenses.

In January 1982, he decided to travel to the training centre from his home each day rather than reside in Waterford and he applied to AnCO for a travel allowance to cover his expenses in this regard. Consequently, for the period from 4 January 1982 to the date he completed the training course he received a weekly travel allowance of £13.55 from AnCO. This amount covered his full entitlement to travelling expenses.
