Vol. 341 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions . Oral Answers . - LPG Tankers .

14.

asked the Minister for Transport if he considers that the unloading of very large tankers of LPG will present a major hazard to residential areas in central Dublin; if he agrees with the assessment of the chief fire officer in Dublin with regard to the distance of the docking jetty for these tankers from the proposed underground storage tanks; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

: As these issues are currently the subject matter of a planning appeal being conducted by An Bord Pleanála, it would be inappropriate for me to comment at this time.

: Can I take it from the Minister's reply that no matter what supplementary questions I ask he will not be in a position to clarify the matter?

: I have been under considerable pressure to make a decision on this matter but have been advised that it would be inappropriate for me to do so in advance of the outcome of the appeal to An Bord Pleanála.

: Does the Minister have any idea of the date on which the commission will report to him?

: Have they completed taking submissions and so on?

: I understand they have.
