Vol. 341 No. 8

Written Answers . - Killmacduagh (County Galway) Ancient Monument .

634.

asked the Minister for Finance the total cost of renovating the ancient monument at Kilmacduagh, County Galway.

: The total cost of renovating the Shanclogh Glebe House at Kilmacduagh, County Galway, amounted to £58,000.

635.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will instruct the Commissioners for Public Works to open the recently renovated monument at Kilmacduagh, County Galway, to the public during the summer months; if he will employ a young person to look after the building during the hours it is open to the public; and if he will make a statement on his plans to open a museum in this building.

: The Shanclogh Glebe House, Kilmacduagh, County Galway, which was recently renovated by the Commissioners of Public Works is open to the public by arrangement with the caretaker of the monument who lives nearby. Apart from this, there are no plans to provide a full-time guide service at Kilmacduagh during the summer months as the number of visitors to the site would not warrant it.

There are no immediate plans to open a museum in the building.
