Vol. 342 No. 9

Written Answers. - Cahir (Tipperary) Unemployment.

572.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy the steps being taken to alleviate the very serious unemployment problem in Cahir, County Tipperary.

I am informed that the Industrial Development Authority are vigorously promoting their 6 acre site and 2 × 3,000 sq. ft. small industry cluster units in Cahir, County Tipperary, for suitable industrial projects. The IDA are also continuing to work closely with the liquidator of Weatherglaze Ltd., in an effort to secure a viable replacement industry.

In addition the employment opportunities arising in the Medite, Digital and Ronans projects in Clonmel will benefit Cahir and the surrounding area.
