601.

asked the Minister for Justice how many justices have been assigned to hearing applications for rent increases under the Housing (Private Rented Dwellings) Act, 1982 on (a) a full-time and (b) a part-time basis.

602.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of days on which the district court has sat to hear cases under the Housing (Private Rented Dwellings) Act, 1982.

, Limerick East:) I propose to take Questions Nos. 601 and 602 together.

There are two courts in the Dublin Metropolitan District dealing exclusively with applications under the Housing (Private Rented Dwellings) Act, 1982.

Between 13 December 1982, when the first sittings of the courts were held and 18 May 1983, there have been 135 court sittings on a total of 76 days. Two justices at a time, one in each court, sit full time in those courts.

Outside Dublin applications under the Act are dealt with by the locally-assigned district justices as part of the normal performance of their judicial functions.

Question No. 603 withdrawn.
