One appointment within the terms of the Deputy's question was made in my Department during the periods 5 July 1977 to 30 June 1981 and 9 March 1982 to 14 December 1982. The information sought regarding the appointment is as follows:—
Grade
Welfare Research Adviser. The person appointed was employed on a contract basis.
Rate of remuneration paid
Fee of £8,100 a year initially and of £8,262 a year when employment ceased.
Period of employment
13 March 1978 to 2 March 1979.
The person who was employed temporarily as Welfare Research Adviser was not appointed as a permanent civil servant.
The total cost of remunerating the Welfare Research Adviser was £6,508.09 in 1978 and £1,627.53 in 1979.
