asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will give details of the elaborate plan in his Department should there be an outbreak of rabies in this country.

The legal provisions for dealing with an outbreak of rabies are contained in the Rabies Order, 1976, made under the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966. Details of the procedures to be followed in the event of an outbreak or suspected outbreak of rabies are contained in the following memoranda:

1. Rabies Control.

2. Importation of Dogs and Cats — Guidelines for Veterinary Officers.

Copies of the Rabies Order, 1976, and of the memoranda referred to are available in the Dáil Library.
