In the period since the "Start Your Own Business Programme" was initiated in 1979 to date, AnCO have sponsored a total of 32 programmes (two in 1979, one in 1980, six in 1981, ten in 1982 and 13 in 1983 to date). AnCO have a further nine programmes ongoing. The cost of the 32 programmes in terms of public money amounts to approximately £700,000. The programme also qualifies for aid from the European Social Fund. AnCO estimate that to date over 600 additional jobs were created in enterprises set up by participants on the programme.
