Vol. 345 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payments.

253.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to pay a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

A grant of £200 has been paid in this case in respect of the provision of a water supply and a grant of £600 in respect of necessary repairs will be paid shortly. On receipt of evidence of planning permission a further grant of £400 in respect of the building of an extra bedroom will be paid.

The applicant has been requested to submit this documentation.

254.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a home improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

A house improvement grant was paid in this case in June 1980, and there is no record of any subsequent application from the person named.

255.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a new house grant from the person named. An application has, however, been received from a person of the same name and slightly different address.

The file in this case is with the inspector for investigation and report with a view to payment of the grant.

256.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

The file in this case has been referred to the Department's inspector for investigation and report with a view to payment of the £1,000 grant.

Arrangements will be made for the payment of the first instalment of the mortgage subsidy when the grant has been paid and the applicant submits the appropriate claim form.

257.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary as this grant is long overdue; the reason for such a long delay in inspecting the work carried out; the date on which this work was inspected; the date the grant will be paid; and the amount which will be paid.

The application in this case is in respect of the provision of a water supply, the installation of sewerage facilities and the building of a bathroom. Provisional approval for a grant of £984 in respect of these categories issued to the applicant on 2 February 1983. The works were inspected in the week ending 21 October 1983 but the inspector reported they were not satisfactorily completed.

When the applicant notifies my Department that the works are finally complete and submits evidence of planning permission a further inspection will be arranged with a view to payment of the grant.

The applicant has been so informed.

258.

asked the Minister for the Environment why a new house grant under the old scheme has not yet been granted to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; the reason recent acknowledgements have been made to correspondence on this matter despite the fact that he furnished details of income to his Department on several occasions.

This application was refused in January 1979 on the grounds that the applicant's income for the relevant period was in excess of the maximum allowable under the then scheme of grants.

There is no record in my Department of recent correspondence regarding this case.

259.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to have a house improvement grant paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

On receipt of notification of completion of the works a final inspection will be carried out with a view to payment of the grant.

260.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

A grant cannot be paid in this case because the persons named had previously purchased a house. Applicants for new house grants must, under the terms of the Housing Regulations, 1980, be first-time purchasers.
