asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12.

I very much regret the delay in providing telephone service for the person named. However, it will not be possible to meet this application until necessary additional engineering work is carried out.

The objective of the Department's current telephone development programme is to provide a fully satisfactory telephone service nationally in terms of both quality and availability by the end of 1984 and it is expected that service will be provided for the person named during the first half of next year.

I have arranged to have a detailed check made on the telephone line and the associated exchange equipment including a printer meter check of calls made on the subscriber's telephone line. It is expected these checks will be completed within a month or so. The results will be discussed with the subscriber concerned to arrange a final settlement of his telephone account.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when public telephones will be installed at the empty telephone kiosks on Huntstown Rise and Airfield, Huntstown, Dublin.

Service will be provided to the telephone kiosks at Huntstown and Airfield as soon as the necessary underground cabling and jointing work is completed.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if a telephone service, which will be available for the use of the community at Cloonmore, Jobstown, will be provided in the new community centre in the portacabin of the grounds of St. Thomas's School, Jobstown, Tallaght, County Dublin.

It has not been possible to trace an application in the name of the community centre referred to. If the Deputy can furnish additional inform ation, e.g. where and when the application was made, further efforts will be made to trace it.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when public and private telephones will be provided for the Cloonmore Estate, Jobstown, Tallaght, County Dublin, whose residents now number over 6,000 people and which is without a telephone service; and if a public telephone will be provided as an urgent interim measure within the estate and without delay.

It is planned to provide a telephone kiosk to serve Cloonmore Estate. The kiosk will be provided as soon as possible after the necessary consents to a suitable site has been obtained.

It is expected that service will be provided to waiting applicants in the estate during the first half of next year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange to have public telephones provided at Newfield, Mulranny, Westport, Belfarsad, Achill Sound, Cloughbrack, Bofeenaun and Ballina, County Mayo; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Newfield, Belfarsad and Cloughbrack are not included in this year's programme. Their claims will be considered in due course when the 1984 kiosk programme is being drawn up.

I regret that it has not been possible to provide telephone service so far for the person named because of the volume of engineering work on hands and requiring attention in the 01 area.

Further inquiry is being made regarding the likely completion date of the necessary engineering work and the applicant will be contacted immediately the inquiry is completed.

It is expected that telephone service will be provided for the person named early next year.

Telephone service is available on demand in a large part of Galway city.

Service will become available on demand in the remaining areas of County Galway progressively until the entire county is on demand by about the end of 1984.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will immediately investigate the telephone and telephone account of a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

The telephone accounts of the person in question were checked and found to be correct. There is no record of any fault on the line during 1983 that could have caused over recording of the meter.

According to my Departments record, no charge was raised for a telephone call made after service was withdrawn on 25 July, 1983.

It is hoped to provide automatic telephone service at Mulranny before the end of this year, at Carrowbeg in the first half of next year and at Ballycroy towards the end of next year.

It is planned to erect a public telephone kiosk to serve Abbey Park, Ferrybank.

It will be erected as soon as possible after the necessary consents to the site selected have been received.

It is proposed to take Questions Nos. 308, 309, 311, 312, 314, 315, 319 and 320 together. The provision of telephone kiosks at the locations mentioned is not regarded as warranted at present and it is not proposed therefore to provide kiosks at these locations.

It is planned to erect a public telephone kiosk to serve Woodview, Freshford.

The question of providing a kiosk at Shandon Park is being examined. The Deputy will be communicated with as soon as the examination is completed.

Bigwood, Ballyneale and Ballyfoyle are not included in this year's programme. Their claims will be considered in due course when the 1984 kiosk programme is being drawn up.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will allow a firm (details supplied) in County Tipperary to examine the 12 meter readings taken at Roscrea exchange and to have a continuation of the print out machine results from 3 December 1982 to date as the firm is of opinion that the meter readings and accounts being issued are extremely high.

A printer meter record of the calls on the telephone line in question was taken from 2 November to 1 December, 1982, with the co-operation of the subscriber. This test confirmed the accuracy of the metering equipment.

The subscriber was invited to visit his local telephone exchange to inspect the metering of his telephone line. He is also being invited to visit Telephone Accounts headquarters in Dublin to inspect the records of his meter readings.
