Vol. 345 No. 6

Written Answers. - Ballina National School.

461.

asked the Minister for Education if she is aware of the deplorable condition of Culleens national school, Ballina, County Mayo, and the position regarding the provision of a new national school.

Sketch plans for the proposed new national school at Culleens, Ballina, County Mayo, have been approved by my Department and agreement has been reached with the Rev. Chairman on the local contribution. The question of establishing that the schools' authorities have satisfactory title to the site of the proposed new school is at present being considered by the Chief State Solicitor. When this question has been resolved a grant will be sanctioned and the further planning stages proceeded with as a matter of urgency. I am well aware of the background attending the replacement of the present structure.
