asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in having a replacement teacher appointed to a school (details supplied) in County Kilkenny as the replacement fulfils the criteria laid down for the appointment; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The question of the payment of incremental salary to an additional staff member at St. Kieran's College as a replacement for the recently deceased teacher had to be considered in the context of the co-operation arrangement between the College and County Kilkenny Vocational Education Committee. The Department have conveyed their decision on the matter to the school authorities.
