Vol. 345 No. 8

Written Answers - Tax Collection Information.

320.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of people in receipt of payments from the Revenue Commissioners for supplying information for tax collection purposes; the amount paid for this information in 1981-1982 and 1982-1983; and the amount of revenue collected as a result of the information supplied.

Presumable what the Deputy has in mind is the supplying of information leading to the assessment and recovery of tax which, but for the supply of that information, would not otherwise have been recovered. Information of this nature is given from time to time but, in most cases, a reward is not sought. Where a reward is sought, consideration is given to the question of a payment related to the amount of tax so recovered. It is not considered to be in the public interest to disclose the details sought.
