It would not be meaningful, and would not represent a true picture of the operation of the European Regional Development Fund in Ireland, to provide an apportionment of fund assistance on a county by county basis.
Ireland is defined as a single region for Community regional policy and regional fund purposes. Assistance from the fund, which is related to investment on infrastructural and industrial development under the Public Capital Programme is applied to increase the overall level of resources for the Public Capital Programme. Fund aid must therefore be seen in the context of its contribution to the overall development effort in accordance with national priorities.
