asked the Minister for Education the number of teachers, the total incremental salary payments made to full time incremental teachers and the total reductions made in respect of (a) PAYE, (b) PRSI, (c) the Youth Employment Levy and (d) pensions contributions in respect of the following categories of teachers: (1) primary, (2) secondary, (3) vocational, (4) community and (5) comprehensive.
Written Answers - Teachers' Salaries.
The information requested by the Deputy is set out in the attached statement in respect of teachers in national, secondary, comprehensive and community schools. A composite amount is shown in respect of PRSI and Youth Employment as the Department of Education do not keep separate cumulative records of the amounts of those deductions from salary. The Revenue Commissioners make the appropriate payments to the Youth Employment Agency in respect of the amount of the Youth Employment Levy.
Information in respect of vocational teachers is being obtained from the Vocational Education Committees and will be forwarded to the Deputy when it becomes available.
