asked the Taoiseach the number of persons currently unemployed in County Mayo; if he will give a breakdown of the number as between males and females; and the age groups involved under both headings.

There were 7,557 persons on the live register in local employment offices in County Mayo on 30 December 1983. These consisted of 6,203 males and 1,354 females, of whom 1,571 and 650 respectively were under 25 years of age. A special age analysis of the live register is carried out quarterly. The latest date for which figures are available is 22 July 1983. The following table shows the total number of persons on the live register in local employment offices in County Mayo on that date, classified according to age group and sex.
