Vol. 350 No. 8

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 4 and 12 (resumed). By agreement there will be no Private Members' Business this week and business today will be interrupted at 7 p.m.

I should like to ask the Taoiseach if it is still the intention of the Government to introduce legislation conferring on each spouse an equal share in the family home and, if so, when might that legislation be introduced?

Legislation in regard to joint ownership of the family home is in preparation. I cannot give the Deputy a date offhand without checking but I will be happy to communicate with him.

Are the arrangements for business today and tomorrow as outlined agreed?

The times are agreed.

I should like to raise on the Adjournment the subject matter of Question No. 4.

I will communicate with the Deputy.

Is the Taoiseach in a position to give the House the final itinerary for the visit of President Reagan here? Will he circulate that part of the itinerary that concerns Deputies to them?

I am not sure whether there is a final itinerary. At this stage an itinerary is arranged provisionally and I understand the details were communicated to the Leader of the Opposition earlier today. I so instructed.

On the Order of Business, would the Taoiseach be in a position to make a statement in the near future following the invitation by senior Garda officers to security agents from another jurisdiction crossing into this country——

Deputy Flynn, this does not arise on the Order of Business.

——which was widely reported and spoken of in a television show last week? It is a matter of considerable public disquiet.

It may be, but machinery is available to Deputy Flynn for raising this in an orderly way. It is not in order.
