asked the Minister for Health if he intends to appoint an official of his Department onto the board of St. James's Hospital, Dublin; the reason for this decision; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - Dublin Hospital Board Appointment.

I have now sent to all the interests involved my proposals for the restructuring of the St. James's Hospital Board. These proposals include a provision for the appointment of an officer from my Department to the board. I believe that such a proposal is most appropriate given the State's commitments to the funding of the hospital and the central role played by my Department in the determination and implementation of policy relating to the provision of general hospital services. My proposals are being considered at the moment by the interests involved.
