asked the Minister for Finance if he will instruct the Revenue Commissioners to allow the importation of a vehicle (details supplied) from the United Kingdom, without the implementation of the six-month ownership regulation, in view of the fact that this regulation is to be discontinued from 1 January 1985.

It is understood from the Revenue Commissioners that the person concerned wishes to import a motor vehicle from the United Kindgom. As he is a State resident the vehicle may not be imported, at present, without an import authorisation from the Department of Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism. Matters pertaining to the issue of these authorisations are the responsibility of the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism. From 1 January 1985 these import authorisations will not be required.
