Vol. 352 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Limerick School Transport.

439.

asked the Minister for Education the reason her Department has refused to give sanction for transport to the school for the deaf at Rossbrien, Limerick, for a person (details supplied) in County Limerick on a five-day week basis; if she is aware that transport is provided for this child for three days a week only and her parents are unable to provide transport to the proposed pickup point five miles away on Mondays or Fridays; and if she will ensure that full and adequate transport facilities will be provided for this person immediately.

It has not been possible to date to provide a full transport service for this child on all days of the week due to the timetable constraints and the non-availability of the transport vehicle for this purpose on Monday morning and Friday evening because of its use for the transport of another child at week-ends.

The matter is being kept under review in respect of seeing whether it may be possible to secure an improved transport service for the child in the coming school year.
