As the Deputy is probably aware a number of Government Departments have responsibilities in relation to environmental health issues. I am first of all concerned that there should be a clear understanding between Departments of their precise responsibilities in relation to environmental health so as to ensure that issues are not neglected or overlooked.
I am at present studying the matter with a view to preparing proposals to deal with the situation and as part of this study I will be looking at the need for a national environmental health plan.
