Vol. 352 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

557.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason a full reclamation grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork as he had the work completed within the time limit.

In accordance with EEC requirements in relation to development farmers, planned investments must be completed before the expiry of the farm plan in order to qualify for the development rate of grant. In this case the approved work was not completed until after the termination of the plan and accordingly the lower rate of grant was paid.

558.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if the first stage of a guidance premium under the farm modernisation scheme will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

Payment of first stage grant instalment was deferred as the necessary increase in livestock units was not achieved for the years ended 31 December 1981 and 31 December 1982. Payment of the first stage in respect of the year ended 31 December 1983 will be considered on receipt from ACOT of the farm accounts extract for that year.

559.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a land reclamation grant application lodged by a person (details supplied) in County Kerry in November 1981 will be considered by his Department having regard to the urgency of this case.

The number of applications received under the western drainage scheme is more than can be catered for within the 150,000 hectares ceiling set by the relevant EEC Directive and it may not, therefore, be possible to accommodate applications received after 30 September 1981 under the present scheme. Consideration is being given to how best to deal with outstanding applications in the light of the present economic and budgetary position.

560.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if guidance premiums under the farm modernisation scheme will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford in view of the fact he has met the required stocking levels.

The first stage grant instalment has been paid. The second stage will be payable when the necessary planned sheep dipping and handling facilities have been constructed.
