Vol. 353 No. 8

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

572.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a grant in respect of farm buildings will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

There is no record of an application for grant aid under the farm modernisation scheme from the person mentioned.

573.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a grant under the farm modernisation scheme will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford where the work was completed before the date of the suspension of the scheme but was not inspected.

While an application for grant aid for the construction of a farm roadway was received in November 1982, it was not processed and approved before the suspension, with effect from 10 February 1983, of grant aid under the farm modernisation scheme for farm buildings and fixed assets. Moreover, it would appear from the Deputy's question that by that date the work had already been done without approval. In the circumstances, the roadway constructed could not be regarded as eligible under the conditions of the scheme.

574.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is satisfied that a person (details supplied) in County Cork was not responsible for the cause of delay in the payment of the dairy conversion grant; if he will give the dates of the various inspections which took place on this person's herd; the reason for the delay in payment of this grant; and when payment will be made.

The person named failed to supply certified cattle identity cards to show that 34 dairy cattle which left his herd were slaughtered or exported to a country outside the EC as required under the terms of the dairy herd conversion scheme. Herd inspections were carried out in October 1982, November 1983 and October 1984. Because of the problem in relation to the missing cards the question of making a deduction from the third instalment is at present under consideration and a decision will be taken shortly.
