Vol. 354 No. 1

Written Answers. - Medical Services Scheme.

626.

asked the Minister for Health the cost of providing medical care under the general medical services scheme to former Ross Co. workers since 1982; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The determination of eligibility to hold a medical card is a matter for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board and an individual's eligibility is determined on the basis of his particular circumstances. I understand from the South-Eastern Health Board that it is not possible to identify persons who have been issued with medical cards as a result of circumstances arising from the strike in the company in question. Accordingly, the information which the Deputy requests is not available.
