asked the Minister for the Environment the amount paid in travelling expenses to each Minister of State in his Department from 1 November 1983 to 1 November 1984.

asked the Minister for the Environment the amount paid to each civilian driver employed to drive the private cars of Ministers of State in his Department, from 1 November 1983 to 1 November 1984.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 21 and 22 together.

The amounts paid in respect of official mileage to the Ministers of State who served at my Department in the period 1 November 1983 to 1 November 1984 — Deputy Ruairí Quinn and Deputy Fergus O'Brien — were £1,001 an £6,362 respectively. The total amounts, including salaries and travel-subsistence allowances, paid to four civilian drivers in the same period were £442, £453, £9,961 and £10,031.
