Vol. 354 No. 3

Written Answers. - Government's Cork Offices.

606.

asked the Minister for Finance the total cost to date of the new Government building at Sullivan's Quay, Cork; and the projected final figure.

607.

asked the Minister for Finance the original contract price for the new Government buildings at Sullivan's Quay, Cork.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 606 and 607 together.

Tenders were submitted to the Commissioners of Public Works for the new Government offices at Sullivan's Quay on the basis of confidentiality and it is not the commissioners' practice to divulge the contract price. The total expenditure recorded to date is £6.2 million approximately and the projected final cost of £7.3 million which includes as well as the cost of the building the cost of partitioning works, provision of a canteen, professional fees, furniture, floor coverings and security.

608.

asked the Minister for Finance if rents are still payable by the Revenue Commissioners for offices being vacated by staff moving mainly to the new Government buildings at Sullivan's Quay, Cork.

The Revenue Commissioners have vacated accommodation at Elm Court, Borenamanna Road, and Hibernian House, 80A South Mall, Cork. They are in the process of vacating Government Buildings (over Roches Stores) Patrick Street, Cork. The accommodation at Elm Court has been surrendered to the lessor. The Commissioners of Public Works are arranging to dispose of their leasehold interest in Hibernian House when the Department of Labour have vacated the premises and in Government buildings when vacation by the revenue staff has been completed. Rent is still payable on Hibernian House and Government buildings.
