Vol. 354 No. 7

Written Answers. - Disease Eradication Schemes.

802.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he considers, given that at the end of 1983 the TB incidence was 2.33 per cent of herds and 0.2 per cent of animals, while the brucellosis incidence stood at 0.53 per cent of herds and 0.06 per cent of animals, that efforts to eradicate the diseases should be immediately speeded up on more effective lines.

In the National Economic Plan 1985-87 the Government have committed themselves to a fresh onslaught on bovine disease, particularly tuberculosis. To that end, the Government have set aside substantially increased funds for the eradication schemes over the next three years and have also detailed a series of measures with the express purpose of speeding up the eradication process.
