234.

asked the Minister for Health the total borrowing figure for commercial semi-State companies under the aegis of his Department which is covered by letter of comfort or other form of State assurance other than formal guarantees under the relevant Acts.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 233 and 234 together.

There are no commercial semi-State companies or bodies in the health sector for which I have responsibility. A possible exception is the Voluntary Health Insurance Board which, while primarily of a non-commercial nature, engage in commercial type activities. There are no borrowings, letters of comfort or other form of State assurance.
