Vol. 354 No. 12

Written Answers. - Clonmel Employment Exchange.

270.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the steps which will be taken by his Department to improve conditions at Clonmel employment exchange, as due to the huge number of people unemployed in the town, many are forced to queue and wait outside in the rain.

The employment exchange premises in Clonmel are considered to be adequate to cater for the number of unemployed persons attending there at present. The queueing which is occurring on pay days could be avoided if claimants adhered to their allotted signing times. I am, however, having the existing signing and pay arrangements reviewed with a view to seeing what can be done to improve matters.
