Vol. 354 No. 12

Written Answers. - Compensation for Sheep Farmers.

308.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if compensation will be paid to the flockowners of South Tipperary as a result of the heavy sheep losses on the Galtee Mountains during the month of January 1984.

309.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason no rescue package has yet been paid to the farmers who suffered enormous consequential losses as a result of the blizzard in the Galtee Mountains area of South Tipperary in early 1984; when compensation will be paid to them; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 308 and 309 together. There are no funds at my disposal from which I can pay compensation in respect of the sheep lost early this year on the Galtee Mountains or in some other areas where such losses were sustained.
