The first review of the programme for western development is due to be undertaken in conjunction with the EC Commission early next year when it will have been four years in operation. Preparations are at present being made for a submission to the Commission in relation to those aspects of the programme which call for amendment so as to make the measure more effective in stimulating agricultural development in the West. It would not be possible to say at this stage when a final decision would be reached.
