asked the Minister for Justice the procedures being operated for the transfer of gardaí throughout the country from one division to another, the total number of gardaí transferred annually from 1980 to date in 1984, the number transferred out of the Dublin metropolitan area, the number sent direct from Templemore training centre to the Dublin metropolitan area; and if he will make a statement on the transfer situation within the Garda Síochána.

Limerick East): Transfers of members of the Garda Síochána are a matter of internal Garda administration and it would not be appropriate for me to comment except to say that liability to transfer in accordance with the exigencies of the service is a normal and accepted part of the service of members of the Garda Síochána.
