asked the Minister for Education if consideration will be given to the siting of a regional technical college in Naas, County Kildare; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 438 and 439 together. The regional technical colleges in this country were set up to serve designated regions, each region comprising a number of counties or parts thereof. The southern part of County Kildare is served by Carlow Regional Technical College while the northern part of County Kildare including Naas is served by the city of Dublin third level colleges. The Government have given a commitment to the establishment of new regional technical colleges in the Greater Dublin area, one of which will be located in Tallaght. There are no plans to provide a regional technical college in Naas.
