A new community school for 500 pupils which will replace the existing convent and vocational schools in Rathkeale has been sanctioned and consultants have been appointed for the project. The question of the siting of the proposed new school has yet to be resolved. The incorporation of the existing school buildings in the new school with the balance of new accommodation on an adjacent site is presently being examined together with the option of erecting the new school on an alternative site.
