Vol. 354 No. 12

Written Answers. - Finglas (Dublin) Workers' Redundancy Entitlements.

491.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will give details of the redundancy entitlements of workers at Storage Technology Products, Finglas, some of whom are currently being let go and some of whom are still at work without guarantee of salary.

A provisional liquidator has been appointed to this company. No notice of redundancy in respect of any of the employees of the company have been received in my Department from the liquidator. The statutory redundancy lump sum entitlements of employees is calculated as follows: (a) a half week's pay for each year of service between the ages of 16 and 41, (b) one week's pay for each year of service between the ages of 41 and 66 years, (c) plus one bonus week. The current ceiling on a week's pay for the purposes of calculating redundancy entitlement is £211.54. If the employees concerned are made redundant and the liquidator is unable to pay them their statutory redundancy entitlements, I will arrange to have them paid from the redundancy fund administered by my Department.
