Vol. 354 No. 12

Written Answers. - County Dublin Factory.

543.

asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism the steps, if any, which the IDA is undertaking to save the jobs in the Koss factory at Corke Abbey, Little Bray, County Dublin.

I am aware of the proposed closure due to trading difficulties of the factory in question. Whilst I regret this development it must be recognised that the decision to close was taken by the company itself on commercial grounds and there was no scope for intervention by any State agency in an attempt to save jobs.

The IDA has, however, already circulated its overseas offices with the details of the assets involved in an effort to find a promoter who would be interested in taking over the operation. In addition, the IDA will also continue to make every effort to find a replacement industry for the area.
