asked the Minister for Finance the names, addresses and other relevant details of (i) all organisations who are registered and credited as charitable organisations for tax purposes in this country at present; and (ii) all organisations that lost this status over the past few years and if he will make a statement on the entire situation.

I have been informed by the Revenue Commissioners that their obligation to observe confidentiality in relation to the taxation affairs of taxpayers precludes them from giving the information requested by the Deputy. In any event the Revenue Commissioners have not compiled the information sought and a detailed examination of individual tax files which could be carried out only at a disproportionate cost would be required to obtain it.
