Potato bags, in common with many other packaging products, are liable to VAT at 35 per cent. It would not be appropriate to reduce the rate of VAT on potato bags outside of a reduction for packaging products, generally, and I have no plans to do this at the present time. I should say, however, that the position of industrial and other goods liable at the 35 per cent rate is being examined in the context of a general review of the VAT rate structure.
