Vol. 355 No. 4

Written Answers. - Portlaoise Television Reception.

564.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that the tenants of the new prison houses at Portlaoise, County Laois, have not got a television service due to the delay in having the cabling contract completed; and if he will arrange to have the work carried out without delay.

, Limerick East): It was never envisaged that the Department would arrange television reception for the married officers in the prison service who occupy the new official houses at Beladd Park, Portlaoise. When the site was being developed underground ducts were constructed, through which all services can be carried to the houses. This allows for easy installation of cable television, which is available locally. Arrangements can be made by the occupants themselves with the licensee who holds the local franchise for cable television.
