asked the Minister for Education the revenue raised by school bus charges in 1983 and 1984; the expected revenue in 1985; and if she will detail the original level of charges and any that have taken place or are anticipated to take place before the end of 1985.

Receipts from the school transport charges amounted to £2,253,000 in 1983 and £2,400,000 in 1984. It is expected that the charges will yield about £3,000,000 in 1985.

The levels of charges per school term in 1983, 1984 and 1985 are set out below.

The charges for eligible post-primary pupils are waived where their parents/ legal guardians are medical card holders. No further increase in the level of charges is proposed for 1985.
