asked the Minister for Labour the reason a person (details supplied) in County Louth who is engaged on a computer management course for 17 weeks at the Cabra AnCO Centre is only being paid a gross rate of £37.50 per week; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The current weekly allowance payable to a single unemployed person aged between 18 and 34 years who is attending an AnCO training course is £37.25. The person whose details were supplied is 24 years old and is single. He is accordingly in receipt of the appropriate weekly allowance of £37.25. Over and above this he also receives an accommodation allowance of £30 per week as he is living away from home.
