Approval to the payment of ex-gratia retirement benefit in the case of the person referred to in the question has now been issued by my Department to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. The delay was caused by the need to make further inquiries from the hospital as to the circumstances and details of the retirement.
