asked the Minister for Education if she will give details of grant-in-aid allocated to voluntary sporting organisations in 1985 showing the percentage increase or decrease on the amount paid in 1984.
Written Answers. - Grant Payments.
An amount of £920,000 is available for direct grant-in-aid to national sports organisations in 1985 to assist in the areas of coaching, administration, equipment, international competition and special projects. This sum represents an increase of 9.51 per cent over 1984 expenditure under these headings.
It should be noted that expenditure in 1984 included a sum of £100,000 in respect of GAA Centenary Year celebrations. As this is a non-recurring item of expenditure the allocation for 1985 represents an actual increase of 24.31 per cent. A list of grants allocated to date for 1985 is appended.
