Vol. 357 No. 5

Written Answers. - Enterprise Allowance Scheme.

536.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will issue a reply to Deputy Vincent Brady's letter of 21 November 1984 on behalf of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 5 whose application for participation in the enterprise allowance scheme was rejected despite the fact that he has met the eligibility conditions laid down by being on the live register for a period in excess of 13 consecutive weeks and was in receipt of unemployment assistance during that time.

At the date of receipt of application, the person in question did not meet the eligibility conditions of the enterprise allowance scheme in relation to unemployment assistance. The question of his eligibility for unemployment assistance was the subject of reassessment and subsequently an appeal to the Department of Social Welfare. The appeal has been successful. The applicant has been informed to this effect and about the procedures concerning the reactivation of his enterprise allowance scheme application. A more detailed reply is being issued to the Deputy.
