Vol. 357 No. 7

Written Answers. - Abolition of Land Commission.

831.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will outline the procedures in the discontinuation of the Land Commission and state the date on which it is proposed to conclude the work of the Land Commission in the acquisition and division of land.

Legislation to give effect to the Government decision to abolish the Land Commission is in the course of preparation. The acquisition of land by the Land Commission has effectively ceased since 1983. Every effort is being made to dispose of the land on hands as quickly as possible but the programme may be affected by staff releases that will have to be made in connection with the farm tax.

Questions Nos. 832 and 833 withdrawn.
