Council Regulation (EEC) No. 1054/81, which established a common measure for the development of beef cattle production in Ireland and Northern Ireland, expired on 30 April 1984. I have requested an extension of the Regulation which would allow for the construction of performance and progeny testing facilities at Sligo AI Centre. The Council of Agriculture Ministers undertook to decide on the matter following on a proposal from the Commission. I expect the Commission to put forward a proposal shortly.
