asked the Minister for Agriculture when he will pay a grant to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The grant in this case has been paid.

840.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will increase the grants payable to farmers in respect of cows which failed tests under the disease eradication scheme in the Farranfore area of County Kerry having regard to the large numbers involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

While the Farranfore outbreak is, of course, a matter of some concern, I am not contemplating special levels of compensation to herd owners in the area. My Department's district office are taking all necessary steps to deal with the situation and I would expect a fairly rapid improvement.
